Investors in People is the UK’s leading people management standard. It is a business improvement tool designed to help all kinds of organisations develop performance through their people. The aim of this accreditation is to make Investors in People the choice for leaders who want to deliver business impact and growth and it is recognised overseas.

In 2017, DBS Law was awarded Silver status and are currently working towards improving towards Gold status at renewal in 2020.

Lexcel Law Society Accredited

Lexcel Law Society Accredited

Lexcel is The Law Society’s management quality mark. It is a recognised accreditation scheme for law firms and in-house legal departments which gives assurance that a practice meets high client care and business management standards. To gain and retain Lexcel accreditation, DBS Law undergoes a rigorous assessment which includes conducting background checks and an on-site visit from an experienced, trained Lexcel assessor. This is an annual assessment, which was last renewed in 2017.

The Law Society Accredited – Conveyancing Quality

This accreditation scheme has been created by The Law Society to provide a recognised quality standard for residential conveyancing practices.

The Law Society states that ‘membership achievement establishes a level of credibility for member firms with stakeholders (regulators, lenders, insurers and consumers) based upon the integrity of the Senior Responsible Officer and other key conveyancing staff, the firm’s adherence to good practice management standards and adherence to prudent and efficient conveyancing procedures through the scheme protocol.

This scheme creates a trusted community which will deter fraud. The aim is to increase conveyancing standards year on year. Members of the general public can buy conveyancing services accredited with the CQS accreditations with confidence.

DBS holds this accreditation for the year 2017-18.


The Law Society Accredited – Wills and Inheritance Quality

The Law Society’s Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS) provides a best practice quality mark for wills and estate administration advice that consumers can trust.

The scheme is based on abiding by a Wills and Inheritance Protocol which sets client service standards to ensure transparency in process, costs and communications. By achieving the standard, our solicitors are recognised in understanding the required practices for will drafting, probate and estate administration to help address common risks, errors and inconsistencies that arise in delivering advice.

With this standard, we can say with confidence that our solicitors are able to offer you high-quality private client service on will writing, probate services and estate planning.

DBS holds this accreditation for the year 2017-18.

The Law Society Excellence Awards are presented every year for outstanding achievement in the legal industry by individuals and companies. Regarded as the Oscars for the legal sector the awards are received with pride by the winners and those who are highly commended.

DBS Law almost won this category in 2013. Judges commended us for the thoroughness and comprehensiveness of our client service initiatives such as our call centre, home visits, online document signing, dedicated case handlers, training, remuneration, and our strong focus on metrics and client feedback.

DBS Law is proud to be the first law firm to have received the government CSE award for exceptional client service. The prestigious Customer Service Excellence Standard was presented on behalf of the Government’s Cabinet Office in recognition of the firm’s continuous improvement in service and reliability.

The CSE award is only presented after a rigorous inspection of an organisation’s public facing processes and functions. The assessors were particularly impressed by the many ways that DBS Law engages with clients with home visits, online chats and virtual document signing all provided in a range of languages.

The report says “DBS Law employees are clearly committed to and engaged in the delivery of high quality customer service and there are some innovative approaches to gaining and maintaining their buy-in to the culture of the Company.

Discussions with customers and staff clearly show that service expectations are defined and agreed at the outset and are subsequently delivered to the vast majority of customers.”

Top 100 Companies to Work For 2012

The Sunday Times award for ‘Top 100 Companies to Work For’ is presented each year for the fulfilment of range of criteria including: great leadership, investment in staff training and development, the health and wellbeing of employees, fair pay, benefits and for community service.

DBS Law was awarded the ‘Top 100 Companies To Work For’ award two years in a row between 2011 and 2012. In addition to winning the award for two consecutive years, we have improved our accreditation standing from two to three stars.

Big Tick 2014 Winner

The Business in the Community “Big Tick” award is given to businesses who demonstrate significant achievements in various community projects. DBS Law was awarded the Big Tick for its ‘Clock on to Safety’ initiative which has provided road safety training for thousands of school children in Birmingham.

The programme, run in partnership with Birmingham City Council, has involved lawyers from DBS Law visiting schools and teaching children to think about the dangers they face when crossing the road.

Birmingham Young Professional of the Year – Aspiring Talent Award Finalist 2016

In 2016, Marketing Officer Josh Henwood was announced as a finalist in the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year’s Aspiring Talent category which recognises up-and-coming young talent from those either graduating or in their first year in the professional services. Josh was shortlisted for his commitment to the firm as well as the wider city thanks to his efforts in running the Marketing department as well as DBS Heart’s activities and projects.



National CSR Awards – Best Individual Community Project Finalist 2016

DBS Heart were finalists at the National CSR Awards in their first year as a community interest company in the Best Individual Community Project category, which recognises companies that have created projects which offer tangible benefits to their wider community.
