Bringing Law to Life

Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice

Team work has long since been the key to success, whatever it may be; the joining of minds, forces and focus can be a differentiating factor in success and the success of a community is no different.

DBS Law are proud supporters of the community and regularly continue to show this support be it through donations, assistance or a helping hand here and there and the firm are now proud to be going that one step further with active participation in a fifteen week fundraising challenge organised by St Mary’s Hospice in Birmingham.

The challenge is unlike any other that DBS Law has been involved in but one that the firm is extremely happy to be a part of. The challenge itself pits local businesses against one another in a bid to raise money so that the Hospice can continue with its phenomenal work.

Since its launch in 1979, the Hospice has cared for tens of thousands of people with life changing conditions, providing a dedicated service to the seriously ill and their families across the West Midlands.

In order to continue its incredible work, St Mary’s Hospice requires £6.3 million a year to run, making such community support vital. Visit www.bsmh.org.uk for more information about the hospice.

DBS Law Managing Director Rob Bhol said; “At DBS we believe that business success and community involvement are inseparable. Through the Heart of DBS project the firm strives to maintain a strong connection with the community our business serves. This year the St. Mary’s Hospice accumulator challenge is at the heart of DBS Law.”

DBS Law staff took a challenge with a full swing and during the last few months tried hard to raise money for the hospice.

Zeeshan Masood, Director of Operations at DBS Law, was the first one to come up with a fundraising idea by becoming a daredevil and throwing himself out of the plane. His efforts became an inspiration to other members of staff.

They have made an incredible effort too. They spent a day bag packing for customers in a supermarket. The final push for St Mary’s Hospice was a charity raffle to raise even more funds. The prizes were fantastic and the tickets sold out quickly. 13 lucky people won some great prizes and all the money from ticket sales went towards the hospice.

Accumulator organiser Theresa Meek said the teams had made some fantastic achievements. “They’ve really pulled out all the stops for Birmingham St Mary’s, with entire offices getting behind this challenge. Their contribution to the Hospice will make a huge difference to people with serious illness and their families,” she said.

Theresa added: “Feedback from the teams shows that much of the fundraising was driven by competition and the thought that they might take on some rivals. They’re also gearing up to take part again in the next challenge.”
